[NEWS] Masahiro Matsuoka's first time cross-dressing in a drama!

THIS AUTUMN BRINGS US THE HOUSEKEEPER MITAZONO...
HE'S CERTAINLY MALE, BUT LOOKS LIKE A FEMALE!?

Masahiro Matsuoka's housekeeper character Kaoru Mitazono is sent to work for families and finds out their inner workings along the way. And as he cleans their houses, so too does he clean their issues away, creating a thrilling human drama for Kaseifu no Mitazono. Matsuoka's foray is the first involving a male housekeeper in the history of TV Asahi, and on the 21st of October (Friday) the drama will be the newest addition in the Legendary Housekeeper line-up. Furthermore, it appears the lead actor Matsuoka will be cross-dressing in his role!

■ Masahiro Matsuoka's first jump into crossdressing! "When I looked into the mirror after doing my make-up, I saw my mother. (laughs)"

Tearing the homes he's assigned to apart, Mitazono is a dark hero who leads them towards rebuilding themselves. Matsuoka plays this Mitazono character with a "habit of prying into people's homes", and while taking that personality with him, also has remarkable skills in housekeeping. The concept itself has its own level of intensity, however... the most shocking bit is Matsuoka's cross-dressing! Mitazono will be donning women's clothing for almost the entire drama!

This is Matsuoka's first time cross-dressing for a television drama. He's certainly done it before on variety shows, but this is the first time he's had to take it seriously. According to Matsuoka, "working eyelash curlers is a pain" and "wearing brassieres makes my shoulders stupidly stiff". Needless to say, it appears wearing the get-up for an extended period of time's taking its own toll. Regarding his appearance, Matsuoka said, "When I looked into the mirror after doing my make-up, I saw my mother." He goes on to elaborate, "Now I understand how hard it must be for all the actresses out there." Furthermore, towards the staff he adds, "I keep thinking, 'Please let me use all the filming time to get my make-up right!'"

Speaking of the staff, the first time Matsuoka came out in full costume and make-up, the male members in particular gave a loud "Whoa!". Laughing, Matsuoka added, "Everyone seems to want me to dye it in my favourite colour!" when the male staff were asked about what they thought about his wig.

In the drama, Mitazono is described as "a person who looks like a very tall woman at first glance". This autumn drama is sure to make a big topic, especially when even at second glance, Matsuoka doesn't resemble himself any more.

Comments from Masahiro Matsuoka (Kaoru Mitazono)

Of course I've done cross-dressing before, like on variety shows, but I'd never really... gone this far, like with make-up and with eyelash curlers and all. It's hard as hell to work out, and I can barely do it! I gotta curl my lashes, then do the mascara, and then use a hot curler to keep those lashes up... and after that, as I looked into the mirror, I saw my mother stare right back at me. (laughs)

Man, even the way I speak doesn't sound like me, and I sound more like some kinda gay owner of a shady hotel. (laughs) And shit, after putting on a bra, my shoulders get stiff as hell and it's such a pain...! And I, like, have this habit of fiddling with my face, and now I can't do that 'cause I might wipe the make-up off. [And when I wear the wig,] I gotta make sure not one strand of my actual hair comes out... But anyway, as far as first times go, I figure this is an all right first experience. Now I understand really well how actresses must feel about it! Like, I wanna take as much time as I can for fixing myself up before filming, and I hope it ends soon. (laughs)

I'm not really sure what kind of visual I'm giving out for this, but I did notice a bunch of the male staff guys just losing their shit. I tried wearing a whole buttload of wigs based on everyone's tastes, too. (laughs) And they wanted me to dye the wigs my trademark colour [purple], which I thought was weird as hell. (laughs)

Incidentally, Kaseifu no Mitazono's main theme will be written and composed by TOKIO's Tomoya Nagase, with the band releasing a song titled Ai! Wanna be with you... (with "ai" meaning "love" in Japanese). The single is scheduled to be released sometime in autumn.
