[NEWS] Tomoya Nagase plays an eccentric, good-looking pathologist in the TV drama, Fragile

Bin Kusamizu's original work, Fragile, with art by Megumi Saburou, will have a television drama adaptation. It will start on the 13th of January in 2016 on Fuji Television.

Fragile is a medical-themed work serialised in Kodansha's monthly publication, Afternoon. A pathologist's job is to diagnose diseases based on an assortment of data, including but not limited to a patient's bodily fluids, stool samples, cells, and blood. It's been decided that the protagonist, a pathologist named Keiichiro Kishi, will be played by none other than TOKIO's Tomoya Nagase.

It'll be 15 years since Nagase's last foray into the world of medical dramas, that being when he starred in TBS' drama, Handoku!!!, in 2001. However, this time he plays the only suit-wearer in a group of white coats, who more often than not clashes with those who're more passionate than he. As far as how playing the character goes, one way to think of it is that "Kishi is intensely eccentric, but also holds one of the most brilliant minds".

There're quite a lot of positive points that've been put into this drama. While the main character is pretty stubborn in his eccentricities, within that there also lies a sort of kindness, some feeling of heroism, and various other emotions that I feel you'll be able to see. Furthermore, a number of interesting happenings are no doubt going to happen due to Kishi's intense personality. There's definitely a meaning in why he is the way that he is, and Kishi's character in all its entirety will be explored and understood as the story goes on. That being said, I don't think there's ever been a medical drama quite like this one, ever. As I'm looking forward to working in this role, I hope that everyone intending to watch will look forward to seeing it, too.

When we were throwing suggestions about the drama, the first person that popped up in my mind (to play Kishi) was Nagase-san and the brilliance of his acting skill. The thought of him playing the intense, eccentric, self-centred Dr. Kishi was an attractive idea from the beginning, so I do hope that everyone looks forward to it!

The moment I heard Tomoya Nagase-san would be starring in the drama, my excitement showed when I went all, "Oh my God! I wanna see it now!" In fact, that excitement just keeps building and building up the longer it goes on. I'm severely excited for January.

800 LINES WHAT THE FUCK the only time i ever reached something like that was when I subbed TOKIO's 2hr special on Tokyo Friend Park, but it was hell and I always got so lazy in the middle of it XD i don't think dash even reaches that much? and in tetsuwan dash they talk quite a lot... :|
