1. I tried to watch it in the past but I couldn't understand it, so I stopped. About the sub, what you meant is about the appearance for the sub right? I don't really care about that, as long as I can read it easily so subs just for the audio okay.
2. I like Tokio Kakeru more, because I can understand it better than Dash so, sometimes I watch it if I see someone uploaded the raw version

1. Yes, and I like it :) I think subs only for audio are OK, because most of the time it's pretty easy to understand the things they write on the screen (like fish names and so on).
2. I think in this case visual subs are more needed, but not a must.

6. I don't care cause I don't know if I'm gonna watch this...
7. I personally download by size, so if the HQ files are small I download them but if they're huge (more than 700mb for example) I'll download the MQ.

2 - Yes. I think TOKIO Kakeru is needed visual subbed since they talk a lot.
3 - Your subtitles are great. As a non-english speaking, Yes sometimes the subs are too fast and too long (for me) to follow, I just pause and read it XD so It's not a problem at all.
4. I prefer anything that sounds more natural.

7. I normally download HQ if it's available but MQ is still fine for me.

Audio subs are subtitles for the dialogue when they talk! Visual subs are subs for the words/diagrams that appear on screen. :D I'm sorry if that wasn't clear. I was just wondering about the visual ones 'cause I'm subbing the DASH episode, right, and I'm wondering if I should put translations for those too...

Thank you, though! :)) Do the subtitles right now sound "natural"? 'cause sometimes I think that maybe I use too much slang or something, but TOKIO doesn't really speak formally except for Taichi ('cause he's the host), Gussan, and Tomo (but then when Tomo gets excited he starts to talk casually too). I just see other people's translations sometimes and like... they translate so politely. It makes me wonder if all my casual language is bad or something. XD

For concerts, do you want the songs to have English translations, too?

Just audio subs are fine then. I just want to know what they talk about. I don't care what it's on screen lol

I like your subtiles because that's how TOKIO talks (I guess). I think if it's too polite, it's a bit weird.

About concerts, no need English translations (maybe except Joshima song [???] because each time the lyric is changed, right?)

To be honest, I've never watched any of your subs ^^; Heh. But just putting in my 2 cents worth as a fellow translator~

4. This is an age-old question that will never have an answer. Lol. Personally, I constantly float between the two. Some days I feel more casual and everything I translate comes out kinda casual and slang-y. At others, I try to stick to the original meaning. But usually, I find that sticking to the "original" meaning makes it sound a little forced and stiff. On the other hand, being too casual and slang-y can also sound strange and forced. So... I guess a certain balance has to be struck. And of course, you have to judge based on how the person is speaking? Like on variety shows, usually I go for more casual translation, especially if the speaker himself is using zokugo and tameguchi. But like I said, it depends on my mood lol. And as for viewer preference, I've seen this question asked on many forums before, and the answers everyone gives are always split down the center. Related questions would be, would you use "Taichi-san" or "Mr Taichi"? What about "-sama"? "-shi"? "-sensei"? Do you leave "itadakimasu" (and assume that everyone watching has enough interest in Japan/watched enough such shows to know something as "basic" as that) or do you translate it?

6. I personally find soft subs are easier because... They're just easier to upload. Haha. And since there is a "central" source of drama raws, you don't have to worry overmuch about people getting the wrong raws and the files not syncing. The two major raw sources are jdramacity (furransu - 480p) and DoA (720p - usually appears on asiatorrents and other torrent sites). I've only ever subbed 1 full drama and 1 drama SP, and both times, I timed to furransu's raw since it usually appears first. Someone at d-addicts always helped me to retime the subs to DoA's 720p version XD Like, I just upload my version and a while later, someone uploads the retimed version without me asking. Which totally works for me cuz I'm lazy (even though retiming is actually pretty easy). HAHA. But yeah, either works, really. And if you're gonna do anything fancy with the typesetting, or use non-standard fonts, then definitely hard sub (or provide a zip with your font files).

8. I've never done concert subbing but I always thought that if ever I did, I'd probably only bother to sub things that weren't them singing. Like, if they say something to the audience/each other, or MC time, that kinda thing. But that's just me being lazy ^^v

softsubbed, it will be more fast for you to release the sub, because usually I downloading the raw by torrent, which is more fast for me.

1. Any sub will be welcomed. Maybe visual sub for some of the more special episodes? Otherwise, whichever is easier for you.
2. Same.
3. The font is always a problem for me. An easy to read font will eliminate most problems.
4. Whatever floats your boat. The fact that transltion exists makes me happy already. I would say literal is easier for the translator but well ...
5. Yes.
6. Soft would be nice cause then you wound't have to upload the video, just link it to the raw provider. However, if you are not okay with people using your softsub to translate/time their own project, I would say hardsub.
7. I would say just go with whatever you have. Don't even bother with MQ and HQ.
8. Simple karaoke effect (just fade in fade out the whole sentence is enough). But plain is perfectly okay.

I watch all the subbed ones I can get my hands on (which are really not enough), and the occasional short watch on the unsubbed episodes on youtube. Visual subs? If you mean the japanese text on the screen then I guess it depends if it is important for understanding what is going on? Basically what I want from subs is just to understand what they're saying in general? sorry for being so vague!

Sometimes I guess, but I don't have a problem with it as I don't mind rewinding a short bit and pausing to read before rewatching it.(you can find some hilarious freeze frames this way ;) )
4. Do you mind the translations being modified to sound more casual/colloquial, or do you prefer more literal translations?
As long as I understand what they're saying in general I don't mind either way, whatever you feel most comfortable with ^^

I guess softsubbed if it's done in an srt file so I can still play it on the dvd player, but I don't have a problem if it's hardsubbed either.

HQ links are (more than) enough for me
8. In the event of concert subbing, do the romaji/kanji for songs have to have karaoke effects, or are plain subtitles okay?
Doesn't have to be but I mean... ~~you know I'm a fan of the karaoke effect hahah~~ I like the karaoke effects more than not, but what I would be most excited about reg a concert subbing is the talk in between the songs
